View this post on Instagram Hand-Foot coordination Coordination is seriously important to the efficiency by which we move. If we optimise the way we coordinate our body we will find that we get stronger, faster and more gracefully looking too 💃😎 Coordination just like strength, running or a mobility/warm up routine can be done in a specific way for a specific purpose. But I find the general stuff very fascinating. I’m pretty sure that this drill, which you can see in the video, is one I created based on another one I learnt at the @fightingmonkey_rootlessroot course a couple of years ago. This particular one is not really to prep me for a specific thing. It will engage my body and brain to be more alert and ready for exercise though. As an extra, movements that challenges coordination are excellent exercises for letting the creativity flow pre- or post-workout. I like the process of taking a coordination drill and practice it to the point where I go beyond relying on a heavy mental focus, and integrate it into a rhythm that my body can ’embody’ and replicate without having to think about it. The physical body is faster than the mental body so it makes sense to get these practices adopted by the body past that initial cerebral state. If you look closely at me in the video you can see how I am needing to think about it. That’s because it is new to me, I am learning. Have a go at it. Do it together with me in the video and see what the process is like for you, going from a beginner to knowing the coordination drill well.
