Almost everybody can do the Front Splits.


I said what I said.

How each of us gets there is going to be different though – so no reps and sets here. That’s something you discover along the way. BUT, every person needs strategies and the first is to know about your preferences (also calledย boundaries).

Let’s take a more holistic view of fitness, looking at the mental, social, and biological factors that actually impact your health.

๐—ฃ๐˜€๐˜†๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—นย – Did you have anything traumatic happen to you around fitness, especially flexibility? An old injury that healed physically, but left behind fear and anxiety to guard the old wound? Or are you motivated by particular aims like challenges and goals? Or are you process oriented? Do you just want to move for fun? Or perhaps you have some shame or guilt for NOT wanting to exercise?

๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—นย – Are you introverted or extroverted? There is a spectrum and it will impact how motivated you are to try the Front Splits. You might want to be more alone when you try this, or you may want to do this with people. Even if you’re shy, you still need a teacher or friends on the similar path. You can channel “peer pressure” in a useful way, by joining a group of people who just talk/think/and talk about flexibility training.

๐—•๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—นย – Each person’s bones, tendons, ligaments, and nervous system holds stiffness in different muscles, and some areas are super relaxed. We are unique combination of past injuries AND opportunities to strengthen and heal the body.

So what does this all mean?ย It means that however you train, you have to findย your ownย preferences and needs for getting strong and flexible.

A lot of people hire a trainer and expect that the trainer will tell them how everything should work. They let the trainer override their natural flow and best practices, whether or not they are aware of it.

When you’re my client, you’ll see that my responsibility as a TRAINER and coach, is to help you discover the methods and ways that work best for you and your body! Your best path to optimal health is findingย the right amount of work that your mind, body, AND heart respond to, and the best social environment to uplift you but not make you too anxious.
